BREAKING: Tyler Bertuzzi officially out for multiple weeks

The injury bug bites Detroit again.

Red Wings Feed

Last year, it was Detroit Red Wings forward Jakub Vrana who missed a significant portion of the beginning of the season thanks to an injury. And now, Detroit will be without another top forward for the foreseeable future.

Tyler Bertuzzi, who left Saturday night's game against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center after being struck by a puck blocking a shot, will be out of action for at least the next four to six weeks, per head coach Derek Lalonde.

Vrana was also absent from practice this morning, but according to Lalonde, it's due to a personal matter.

The positive lining with Bertuzzi being out is that it presents a golden opportunity for forward Filip Zadina to prove to GM Steve Yzerman that it was well worth being re-signed to a three year extension. No doubt he'll be motivated to take this chance and run with it.
