Danny DeKeyser's career isn't over just yet

He's got himself another PTO.

It appeared as though former Detroit Red Wings defenseman Danny DeKeyser's professional hockey career could be coming to an end earlier this fall when he was released from his PTO with the Vancouver Canucks. However, he's getting another chance.

It was announced earlier this morning that he's signed a PTO with the Toronto Marlies, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

DeKeyser, who signed with the Red Wings in 2013 after playing collegiately at Western Michigan University, had just completed the final year of the massive six year, $30 million contract extension given to him by former Red Wings GM Ken Holland. He struggled to regain form following his return from back surgery, and with his -8 plus/minus rating certainly not helping things, DeKeyser was routinely been caught out of position and beaten on the ice by opponents in the 59 games he appeared in this past season.

In 547 career NHL games, all with the Red Wings, DeKeyser has tallied 33 goals with 113 assists. He also has a goal and an assist in 19 career postseason games.
