While the Detroit Red Wings will have several new faces on their roster this season, not everyone from last year's roster will be back. Already, goaltender Thomas Greiss inked a free agent deal with the St. Louis Blues, while defenseman Danny DeKeyser has agreed to a Professional Tryout with the Vancouver Canucks.

Additionally, veteran forward Sam Gagner is taking his talents once again north of the Canadian border, signing a one year contract with the Winnipeg Jets.

"I've heard great things about Winnipeg, the community, the fan support, and the team. It was a pretty easy decision," said Gagner, shortly after signing a one-year deal with the Jets. "There are different things you have to weigh with family and where I'm at in my career. I'm really happy with the decision. I think we're going to have a good team. There is opportunity, and I'm looking forward to getting there and getting to work."

"I'm excited. I think it's a great opportunity," said Gagner. "I look at the roster of the team and the expectations and everything that goes with being in a market like Winnipeg - I'm excited about it. I think it's a great fit and I'm looking forward to getting there and getting to work."

However, he couldn't depart Detroit without posting one last message for the fans of Hockeytown.

After being acquired in a deal from the Edmonton Oilers that sent Andreas Athanasiou the other way, Gagner appeared in 129 games with Detroit, tallying a total of 21 goals and 26 assists.
