Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill sounds off on the Avalanche!

Hopefully, tomorrow's game will have a better outcome.

It's no secret that this year's edition of the Colorado Avalanche are one of the NHL's top contenders for the Stanley Cup thanks to their overwhelming offense and balanced blue line. While their weakness remains in goal, they have more than enough offensive firepower to cover for it.

For Detroit Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill, he's hoping for a better result against the Avs this time around. The last time the two former bitter rivals got together on December 10, Colorado put seven goals on the board en route to a 7-3 blowout at Ball Arena in Denver.

“Last time we played them it felt like they were shot out of a cannon every time they were coming up the ice,” Blashill said. “They can play a really fast game. They’re very good on their breakout. They are a possession-type team in terms of breaking out with possession and getting into the other zone with possession. They’re very good on the line rush, they’re very good in the O zone.”

“We’re gonna have times in our end where they’re gonna be rolling around,” Blashill said, “and we gotta be comfortable with just kind of staying between them and the net. Not panicking in those situations, because they do get that type of offense going.”

The Red Wings may or may not be with the services of captain Dylan Larkin, who left today's practice early with an undisclosed injury. However, the news isn't all bad, as the likes of defenseman Gustav Lindstrom as well as forwards Vladislav Namestnikov and Carter Rowney are expected to return.

Tomorrow's game will begin at Little Caesars Arena at 7:30 PM EST.
