The Detroit Red Wings bolstered their blue line on Monday morning.

According to an announcement from the Wings official website, Hagg has agreed to a one year deal that will carry an average annual value and salary cap hit of $800,000.

Hagg, a former second round draft pick (41st overall) of the Philadelphia Flyers at the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, spent last season split between the Buffalo Sabres and the Florida Panthers. Hagg had 48 appearances for the Sabres during the regular season, scoring a single goal and adding 7 assists for a total of 8 points, finishing his time there with a plus minus rating of -9.

Hagg was then traded to the Panthers ahead of the National Hockey League's trade deadline, and he would appear in 16 games for the Panthers during the regular season, recording no goals and registering 1 assist, finishing that stretching with a plus minus rating of 0.

At just $800,000 against the cap, the 27 year old left-shot Hagg is a low risk depth addition for the Wings, and comes at a significant discount from the cap hit of $1.6 million he carried just this past season.
